A lil bit of the Spring Fling

Tuesday, 17 April 2012

SSSSSPPPRRRIIIINGG FFLLIIIING!!!! Spring Fling was fun. All the dorms in my school had to come out and show their various talents in front of a panel of judges, and the winner got a certain sum of money. My dorm, DD decided to get all the creative people together, with their different talents.

So we came up with cheer-leading outfits for cheerleaders (I was one...), the jasmine girls, and everyone else had to wear pink and black as it was the color given to us. We also had a queen... so we came out and danced for them....Generally, I think we should have won but we came second and the reason given to us was that we were not there on time...(yea rite..).. anyways I only have a few pics of the queen, Kwado, Oby, Tinam, and me...

O' Sister and another song...

What have the demons done is the beginning of the song from City and Colour titled O'sister. Once again I heard it on Mob Wives. Good Music is just good music... so touching and emotional...
This song is dedicated to our sista's going through depression, self loathing and addiction of any kind.

'City and Colour' -O'Sister

Another great song from the same episode is Here and Gone by Mississippi Twilight'

19th New York African Film Festival Main Image
19th New York African Film Festival

The 19th New York African Film Festival runs from April 11 – 17Presented under the theme 21st Century: The Homecoming, this year’s New York African Film Festival screens contemporary and classic African films that explore the notion of home and homeland from the legacy of music legend Miriam Makeba to the New York-set Restless City.

Another film is Andy Amadi Okoroafor's Relentless which follows a returning soldier (Gideon Okeke) from Sierra Leone to Lagos where he tries to re-build his life as an emotionally stunted security company director also starring Nneka, and Jimmy Jean Louise. While Playing Warriors by Director Rumbi  Katedza is reminiscent of a Zimbabwe's Sex and the City.

The Education of Auma Obama is a captivating and intimate portrait of U.S. president Barack Obama’s older half-sister, who embodies a post-colonial, feminist identity in her native Kenya by Nigerian-born director Branwen Okpako and Funke Akindele plays a mother in Maami, a film adapted by Tunde Kelani.

Vivienne.....

Monday, 9 April 2012

Do I like her? YES!! Does she inspire me? A GREAT DEAL...Am I obsessed? Maybe...(a little bit). So I was typing an ethics paper and Vivienne Westwood  popped into my mind. Just in case you are wondering, there is absolutely no connection between the paper and her, she just popped in and then I got hooked. Every time I look at a picture of her or visit her website, I feel refreshed, inspired and alive. Yes, ALIVE. She has motivated me to get on with designing a collection for men. So watch this space...
