Maali Decor

I'm going to talk a little bit about the Decor of Maali Store... we were thinking of a way to make it different; unique, without it been so obvious, so we went for the antiquated look... a touch of Shabby Chiciness and decided to stir it all up with our inspirations... Music: that's where the old vinyl records fit in... The paintings: the one of the two girls, hangs just at the corner of the children's section; the skirt is an old pleated skirt; and the painting with the 3 African pots was painted by our cousin. There is also a frame with a free me Maali T, A kiddie paw Maali T, and an old Arsenal Jersey, because Alheri is a fan.

Then the Colours: The ceiling is green, the walls n interiors, brown and the floor orangey... Also sitting between two tables draped with African Nok Terracota head print, is an old Metallic chest trunk that is house to the Men's accessories, and the curtain for the fitting room is distressed African Aso-oke. Finally the furnitures are mostly brownish, re-polished and some left in their original condition...

We have been on hiatus... but now we r back...

Wednesday 28 July 2010

Hmmmm where to begin... firstly we displayed and sold our products at the Tuk Ham Festival in Kwoi Nigeria where there were a lot of cultural displays and activities... it was fun... then we opened MAALI Nigeria were we had drinks, canapes and a fashion show introducing MAALI to our customers. Fun all the way too... we've got pictures to show. At the opening we raised a handsome amount of money for the charity we support: The Gweimen Centre in Kwoi Nigeria ; a self sufficiency centre for those living with HIV and AIDs. We will talk more about this charity in the coming days, and set up an account for those interested in donating.

Thanks to everyone who supported during the opening... those who lived Maali...bought Maali, and gave Maali... Be Blessed (Maali)
Below are pics of the Tuk Ham Festival, then the Maali opening...
