Day 1... New World Nigeria Showcase

Thursday, 26 July 2012

In the last post we talked about attending a few shows at the New World Nigeria Showcase at Stratford in London. Well we did and we had a swell time. This trip to London was amazing...Stratford was so full of the Olympic spirit..there were lots of people around and everyone seemed to be happy. Linda and I decided we were gonna get the best of this trip and we did. The first day of the show was Wande Coal and the CHOC BOIZ. It was hosted by our very own Segun Arinze. We have few pics of the actual show due to confused prohibition by security (then they let us take pics the next day...smh).

Wande Coal came on first performing both old and new hits...then Brymo came up next....performing Shawty, Good Morning and Ara. Next was Jesse Jagz...He performed and I (Alheri) performed along with him in the crowd (lol ..as I knew every song word for word). Jagz has not been on stage in a while so I was very excited and ecstatic and his performance was mind blowing. Highlight was when he took of his hoody revealing a red mohawk...(*sigh*). Next up was Ice Prince performing selected songs from his album. Lastly, M.I joined the rest of the CHOC BOIZ on stage to perform Nobody Test Me, Represent, Thank You and finally Oleku with Jagz on the drums and M.I on the piano. All in all....was an awesome performance.

Linda Likes Brymo....

Tuesday, 11 October 2011

..... and there is no shame in my game. I Looooove me some Brymo, and if you don't know who Brymo is, I will recap because Alheri has written about him in a past blog.
Brymo (born Ashimi Olawale) is a Nigerian singer, composer, songwriter and recording artist signed to the Chocolate City music label.

Ashimi Olawale was born in 1986, the son of a carpenter father and a petty trading mother. He grew up in the neighbourhood of Okokomaiko in Lagos Nigeria. In 1999, while still attending high school, Brymo wrote his first song, aged just 14.

In 2010 Brymo met Nigerian superstar rapper M.I. Brymo’s talent and unique voice was recognised by Chocolate City, and before long he was signed to the label. While he is yet to release an album with Chocolate City, he has featured on several tracks by other musicians, most notably Oleku by Ice Prince. This hit single gained enourmous airplay and topped most charts in Nigeria.

ARA (Wonders)

On the 18th 0f september 2011 Brymo dropped his 1st single under Chocolate City, called ARA (Wonders)  The song is an up-tempo upbeat song that you just want to keep bopping to. It  is such a happy song and while I have been a fan of Brymo for a while now, I thought he was just a hook master, because he has been featured in many songs like Jesse Jags "I L-O-V-E you which I've talked about In this blog,  “Action Film” by M.I, which I love so much and  “Attention” by 2-Shotz  which I also like.
So when I heard ARA I was so excited! It meant Brymo was actually going to have his own single and I have first hand knowledge of subsequent songs that will also be released soon- looking forward to it.
'Ara' was the track song used on the catwalk for MAALI's Fashion's Finest Fashion Show during the London Fashion Week.

Brymo Show....

Wednesday, 9 February 2011

Ok so last friday was so much fun for me...I watched Brymo perform!! Yeay! For those who do not know Brymo, here is a little bio..

Brymo is an upcoming Nigerian artiste who recently got signed to the Chocolate City record label to join M.I, Jesse Jagz and Ice Prince. Brymo released his first single 'Shawty' in 2008 and has been featured on several hot tracks including 'Oleku' by Ice Prince, 'L.O.V.E You' by  Jesse Jagz', 'Action Film' by M.I, and 'Ma Wo Be' by Sasha.

The show was amazing. You know when you go to a concert or a show and an artiste performs and proves to the crowd  that alot of editing was done on the track....in other words the artiste's voice is not that great. Well Brymo proved that he actually is talented. His voice was amazing and clear and he plays the guitar..A highlight of the show was when he sang 'L.O.V.E You' to a girl in the crowd (one of Linda's fav songs-sure she's Jealous lol) with so much sincerity and passion. The girl couldn't stop smiling. Me being a very huge Brymo fan sang along (word for word) to every song he performed. He ended the show with hit song 'Oleku' (tell me something wey I no fit do....)

If Brymo happens to be performing anywhere close to you, I suggest you go and watch. I promise you won't be disappointed. Below are some pictures of Brymo.. You can play 'Oleku' below..(video is not out yet..)
